Your Utility Bill
Your monthly utility statement provides a listing of your charges, payments and credits as well as special messages regarding service or rate changes. Please take the time to read the monthly messages and review your statement carefully to make sure your name and address are correct.
The electric usage graph shows the usage by month as well as the average temperatures over the last year. The water usage graph shows the usage by month over the last year.
Your utility statement includes garbage charges which DMU bills for the City of Denison.
Bill Due Dates
All electric and water meters are read on the 1st business day of each month. Utility statements will be mailed on the 7th of each month. If the 7th falls on a weekend or holiday, utility statements will be mailed on the previous business day.
Utility charges are due on or before the 27th of each month.
If your utility bill is not paid by the due date, a penalty will be applied to the account and a late payment notice will be mailed. After a grace period, if the account remains unpaid, a non-payment processing fee will be assessed and a final notice will be posted at the location.
Payment Assistance
DMU understands that sometimes circumstances require you to make arrangements to delay payment of your utility bill. Please contact us as soon as you know you cannot pay the amount due. Payment plans are available. Payment arrangements can be made only by persons authorized on the account.
Low-income customers may be eligible for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). LIHEAP is a federally-funded program designed to assist qualifying low-income households (homeowners and renters) with the cost of home heating. The West Central Community Action Agency website has more information about the program and how to apply.
